Building Ireland's Cycling Resource
We started ireneernst Limited in 2019 after one too many planning sessions ended with frustrated searches for basic greenway information. You'd find bits and pieces scattered across different websites, but nothing comprehensive.
So we did what seemed logical — we rode every major greenway ourselves. We documented surface types, tested routes at different times of year, and collected the kind of details you actually need when you're planning a ride with family or friends.
The Great Western Greenway became our benchmark. Sixty-eight kilometres across County Mayo. We mapped every rest stop, noted where the surface changes from tarmac to gravel, identified the best views, and logged seasonal challenges. Then came the Waterford Greenway, Royal Canal path, and the Burren's incredible but technical routes.
Why These Routes Matter
These aren't just tourist attractions. They're accessible, well-maintained cycling paths that connect communities and showcase Ireland's landscape in a way cars simply can't.
